ABOUT STACCATO MUSIC
A BRIEF HISTORY OF STACCATO MUSIC
Staccato Music was founded in 1981 as a music school by Carry Canninga, a master trumpet player, and his wife Trudie Canniga, a concert pianist. They soon realized the need to supply instruments to their students after which they started the sales division of Staccato. In the years thereafter, Staccato grew became a full service music store and the leading musical instrument supplier for the Garden Route and the Klein Karoo.
In 2007 Staccato was bought from the Canningas and received much needed make-over and fresh new start.
In 2011, 30 years later, Staccato Music relocated to it’s new, much bigger and current location at at St. Georges Square, Knysna Road, George.
In 2014 Staccato acquired it’s second branch. They bought RD Percussion, an established music store in Mosselbay, and changed the name to Staccato Music.
In 2015 Staccato Mosselbay also relocated to it’s new and current location, Shop 101, Langeberg Mall, Mosselbay.

MEANING OF STACCATO…
The Italian word STACCATO indicates that notes are separated in a detached and distinctly separate manner. The rhythm is not affected. Notes identified as staccato are often played or sung abruptly and short. Staccato is the opposite of Legato, long and flowing notes.

AMPS AND SPEAKERS
All of our speakers and amplifiers come with a 1 year warranty that covers manufacturing faults.
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT BLOWN SPEAKERS & AMPLIFIERS ARE NOT CLASSIFIED AS MANUFACTURING FAULTS BUT RATHER AS USER ERROR AND THEREFORE DO NOT FALL INTO THE ONE YEAR WARRANTY AGREEMENT!!
You can blow or damage speakers by:
an extremely simplified reason for this is that when the speaker is under-powered it produces more heat than normal which will burn the coil that then causes distortions. Tweeters are particularly vulnerable to under-powering because when the signal is coiled, there are more high frequency signals created, which then causes the tweeter to blow from over-use.
putting too much pressure on the tweeter to work, such as forcing a very loud high pitched sound through it.
Dropping the speakers:
the inner parts may be moved out of their place, causing them to brake.
Sudden loud noises:
can cause either the cone inside the speaker to rip or hit the magnet and break.
Distortion of amplifiers:
the user must match the power range of the amp with the power range of the speaker, otherwise either over-powering or under-powering will occur.
Missing the ground cable:
the speaker will sound fine without the missing ground lead until it causes the tweeter to burn out.
